Permaculture Future Foundation
Join us in designing an abundant future for all
Micro-Grants
We have funded over 100 micro-projects in over 15 locales across the North American contitnent.
Research and Innovation
Showcasing ongoing research projects, technological innovations in permaculture, climate-smart and regenerative design.
Our Mission
We provide micro-grants, training, and partnerships to launch practical, place-based projects—water harvesting, soil building, urban gardens, school programs, and more—so communities can design and steward abundant futures together.
100% of Donations Fund Healthy Ecosystems & Communities
Join us in preserving ecosystems for a sustainable future and helping the communities that live within those ecosystems – thrive.Â
Programs
Current Initiatives & Projects
Fire-Wise Forests & Biochar Teams
Portable flame-cap kilns + trained crews that thin excess fuels, convert them to biochar, and return carbon to soils—reducing wildfire risk while building fertility and rural jobs.
Goal: $250,000
Pocket Forests & Food-Forest Corridors
Neighborhood “mini-forests” (200+ diverse trees/shrubs each) at schools, parks, and faith centers—cooling cities, boosting biodiversity, and growing perennial food.
Goal: $50,000
High School Permaculture Labs
Bring design thinking into urban classrooms with garden labs, career pathways, and community projects—curricula teachers can adopt and adapt city-wide.
Goal: $150,000
Oregon
In western Oregon we funded the design and building of a pond that rehydrated an entire forest watershed.
Haiti
In Haiti, we helped to build food systems for some of the poorest people in the Hemisphere.
Colorado
On the Colorado Front Range, we established a water-saving edible suburban landscape that drew the approving attention of Colorado Spgs. Mayor Yemi Mobolade and Governor Jared Polis.
Florida
In south Florida, we funded environmental education for Hispanic grade-schoolers.
Alberta
In Alberta, we supported development of low-cost building methods for an extreme climate.
Illinois
In Illinois we did a dozen projects—from building design to curriculum to video production—that are regenerating an historic African-American farming community delivering healthy food into Chicago’s South Side.
Guatemala
In the Guatemala Highlands we helped create a community teaching garden, and funded films introducing permaculture in native languages.
Ohio
In Cincinnati, Ohio we helped faith communities plant edible forest gardens in public spaces.
British Columbia
In British Columbia, we funded a community center for First Nations people.
Colorado
In northern Colorado we demonstrated wildfire mitigation technologies to local firefighters and landowners.
Oregon
In southwest Oregon, we trained a dozen crew members to evaluate and treat four sites to reduce wildfire risk, stem erosion, improve timber stands, and regenerate soils with biochar.
Texas
In Houston, we secured funding for scores of community activists to train in permaculture design.
We have produced five on-line summits, a dozen webinars, made three documentary films, published four disaster planning and recovery guides (with more in process), and given over 50 masterclasses and workshops to the public.
